Rooted Here.Reaching Everywhere.

A campaign to build a permanent, rooted home for ministry in the East Village and to ensure The Hub NYC can be a long-lasting place to form new disciples, new churches, and new kingdom ventures that will reach everywhere.

What We've Built Together

Hope Church NYC was founded on the conviction that we exist for more than ourselves: we exist for New York City and the world.

Over more than a decade, that conviction was realized. Hope has grown into a thriving congregation whose influence has reached far beyond its own walls.

Hope was not built to hold onto things. From the beginning, our instinct was to send leaders, resources, and vision out into the city rather than consolidate them under one roof. What grew from that instinct is a network of churches and organizations, each with their own lives, their own staff teams, and their own communities that are serving areas of need in our city and around the world.

The Hub NYC, a property Hope co-owns in the heart of Manhattan, is emblematic of Hope's heart for movement beyond our local church. The Hub NYC has served 90+ organizations every year including churches, missions organizations, nonprofits, and community groups, saving them an estimated $500,000 total in rental costs and resources returned directly to the mission in the last three years.

What We're Building For The Future

The Rooted Here, Reaching Everywhere Campaign is a $4 million initiative over 36 months (December 2026 - December 2029) to build upon our history through two investments. Together, they secure the infrastructure that makes Hope's mission to the world possible for generations to come.

The East Village $2 million

Our East Village congregation has been doing faithful work for years. Now we have an opportunity to give that work a permanent home and replicate what The Hub NYC has made possible in Midtown.

Since 2021, our East Village congregation has been meeting at 418 E. 11th St. (Ground Floor and Lower Level). In that time, our average Sunday attendance has nearly tripled and the space has hosted neighborhood outreach initiatives serving thousands of migrants and others in need.

The $2 million allocated to this effort will go toward acquiring and renovating 418 E. 11th St. (Ground Floor and Lower Level). It will serve as a ministry home and a missional hub in the neighborhood, hosting churches, nonprofits, and outreach initiatives doing vital work in one of New York's most complex and storied neighborhoods.

The Hub NYC $2 million

The Hub NYC is the engine behind much of Hope's generative work, and ensuring its long-term health is essential to everything we are building. Since 2023, The Hub NYC has served 90+ organizations a year, saving them an estimated $500,000 total in rental costs across the last three years.

The $2 million allocated to this effort will go toward two priorities. First, upgrading our water boiler, heating system, and building facade so The Hub NYC is sound for the decades ahead. Second, accelerating the completion of our commitment to the family foundation whose generosity made The Hub NYC possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

The vision
What is the Rooted Here, Reaching Everywhere Campaign?

Hope Church NYC began in 2012 as one congregation with one location. What has grown from that beginning is something we did not fully plan, but something we believe God has been building. In the years since, God has moved through the Hope community to contribute to a movement of the Kingdom throughout New York City and into the world. Lives have been transformed, churches planted, missional nonprofits launched, and organizations resourced.

The Rooted Here. Reaching Everywhere. Campaign is how we steward that legacy and multiply it for the next generation. It is a $4 million initiative over 36 months from December 2026 - December 2029 with two investments: purchasing and renovating a permanent ministry hub for our East Village community, and securing The Hub NYC for the long term so it can continue serving the city for decades to come.

Why a Capital Campaign? Why now?

For most of our first decade, we chose to invest in church planting rather than owning space. That strategy was intentional and fruitful: it kept our overhead low while allowing us to help start more than 40 new churches and missional ventures. But growth requires roots, and the right opportunities to put those roots down do not come often.

In 2019, we purchased The Hub NYC in Midtown. Over six years later, The Hub has become exactly what we hoped: a 24/7 ministry home for our congregation and a resource for 90+ nonprofits and churches across the city every year. Now several years into operation, this is exactly the right moment to invest in the systems and infrastructure that will carry it forward for decades.

A similar opportunity has emerged in the East Village: after two years of careful discernment, we have decided to purchase 418 E. 11th St. (Ground Floor and Lower Level), where our East Village congregation has been meeting since 2021. This is a rare opportunity to replicate what The Hub has made possible in Midtown.

This campaign is how we respond to both opportunities at once.

Is there a spiritual purpose to this campaign?

Absolutely, this campaign is as much a faith-building journey as it is a financial one. We believe that choosing generosity, even sacrificial generosity, forms us into the kind of people God intends us to be. The result of this journey cannot be measured in dollars alone, but in the hearts of our people who are experiencing the joy of radically following Jesus and investing in something larger than themselves.

We understand that our financial circumstances differ, and we ask only that each person give in proportion to what they have received.

Our hope though, is that no matter the size of sacrificial gift, that there is 100% participation for those who call Hope home so that we can collectively take part in a vision toward sacrificial generosity toward others.

The two initiatives
What are the two parts of the campaign?

The $4 million campaign is allocated across two investments, each essential to the overall vision:

  • East Village Property ($2 million): Purchasing and renovating a permanent home for our East Village congregation at 418 E. 11th St. (Ground Floor and Lower Level), which will also serve as a missional hub for the neighborhood, new churches, and nonprofit organizations.
  • The Hub NYC ($2 million): Ensuring the essential systems that keep The Hub running are sound for the future, and accelerating our path to financial independence of The Hub.
Where is the East Village property, and what is the story behind it?

The property is located at 418 E. 11th St. (Ground Floor and Lower Level of the Building) in the East Village.

In 2021, Hope East Village began meeting at 418 E. 11th St as it was previously occupied by Sanctuary Church NYC, a congregation that merged into Hope East Village.

In 2023, Hope East Village became a location of Hope Church NYC, and so Hope Church NYC has been leaseholders of the 418 E. 11th St. property over the past 3 years. During that time, our East Village location has been able to reach further and deeper. Our average Sunday attendance has nearly tripled and we have partnered on a grassroots level with incredible neighborhood initiatives that serve the most vulnerable. The space has also hosted collaborative neighborhood outreach initiatives serving thousands of migrants and others in need, as well as various nonprofits and new churches serving diverse populations across the East Village and Lower East Side.

The owners of the property approached us in 2024 about a desire to sell the property to Hope Church to continue the gospel mission that started in the space. We were content renting the space, but the owners notified us that they would like to put the property on the open market by November 2025. After months of negotiations and two years of careful prayer and discernment after the time the owners first approached us about purchasing, an East Village Discernment Team, our Finance Team, and the Elder Board unanimously voted to move forward with the purchase of the ground floor and lower level of 418 E. 11th St. Factors such as cost, opportunity, timing, and the desire to continue mission in that neighborhood from our East Village community were all taken into consideration before the final decision.

The property will primarily serve as a missional hub for the neighborhood: hosting new churches, nonprofits, and outreach initiatives, much like The Hub NYC has done in Midtown.

Will Hope East Village continue to meet there on Sundays?

Our East Village location has been meeting in the building (Ground Floor and Lower Level) for years and plans to continue worshipping there until our community grows beyond its capacity.

Our other locations will continue to meet at their respective buildings.

Beyond Sunday services, our vision for the East Village property is that it functions as a second Hub NYC: a 24/7 space open to churches, nonprofits, and missional initiatives serving the neighborhood, city, and world.

Thus, even if our community grows beyond capacity, the property can remain a necessary and utilized space for gathering and mission.

What are the renovation plans for the East Village property and what will the East Village congregation do if we are under renovation?

Renovations will be carried out in phases as funds are received. We do not anticipate relocating the congregation during this renovation process. Current plans include modernizing the worship space, improving the lower level for community and connection, and refreshing the entryway. Final renovation plans will be developed in consultation with the congregation and approved by the Finance Team before work begins.

Why is it important to invest in The Hub NYC when it is already operational?

The Hub has served 90+ organizations a year since 2023, and the heating, water, and building facade systems that keep it running require ongoing investment to keep them fully functional. Without this campaign, addressing these needs would require drawing from Hope's operational budget, diverting resources away from the day-to-day ministry that sustains our congregation and community.

At the same time, every dollar we put toward our commitment to the family foundation that made The Hub possible brings us closer to full ownership of our share of the Hub, giving The Hub the financial flexibility to serve the city for decades ahead.

Finances and giving
How much money needs to be raised?

The full campaign goal is $4 million. We are grateful to report that $1.23 million has already been given toward that goal, meaning the remaining amount to be raised is $2.77 million. We are now inviting the wider congregation and community to build on that momentum and carry us to the full $4 million goal.

All households are invited to make a commitment above and beyond their regular giving, in the form of a pledge over the 36-month campaign period (December 2026 through December 2029).

Should I reduce my regular giving to give to the campaign?

This campaign is an invitation to give above and beyond your regular giving. Our general ministries and operating budget depend on the annual offering to function, and we want to continue to serve our congregation and community at full capacity throughout the campaign period. Your regular giving sustains our day-to-day mission; your campaign gift accelerates it.

How should I give?
  • A One-Time Upfront Gift: Prayerfully consider making a generous gift as a kickstart to the campaign.
  • A Consistent Monthly Pledge: Commit to a monthly gift above your regular giving for the duration of the campaign through December 2029. You can set up recurring giving online under the "Rooted" Campaign Fund.
  • A Creative Gift: Consider non-cash assets such as stocks, real estate, crypto, or collectibles. Contact donate@hopechurchnyc.org and our Finance Team will help you navigate the best path for your gift.

Your total commitment is the combination of these three. Many givers find that combining an upfront gift with a monthly pledge allows them to give more over the campaign than they could in any single moment.

What if I am not in a financial position to make an additional gift?

There is no pressure to give. If you are unable to give an additional gift at this time, we would love for you to steward what you have: prayer, enthusiasm, presence, and influence. Pray for your leaders, your fellow congregants, and for this campaign.

Will Hope Church take on debt to fund this project?

We are committed to responsible stewardship. Our church currently maintains an operating reserve, healthy investment accounts, and consistent financial growth year over year.

For the East Village property, our plan is to take on an affordable mortgage that fits within our budget. We are also still faithfully repaying the no-interest loan we received from a family foundation to purchase The Hub NYC, a commitment we have honored consistently and communicated about transparently with the foundation. Our operating budget, The Hub loan repayment, and any East Village mortgage will all continue to reflect the stewardship principles and governance that have guided us from the beginning.

Why purchase another building when you are still paying off The Hub NYC?

The Hub NYC loan repayment is on track, and we have maintained open communication with the family foundation (our lender) about our plans to purchase the East Village building. Six years of owning and operating The Hub NYC has given us a depth of experience in managing missional real estate that we did not have before, and that experience gives us confidence that this is the right next step.

This campaign addresses both at once. The $2 million allocated to the Hub NYC property includes accelerating our repayment to the family foundation, bringing us closer to full ownership of our share of the Hub sooner. Rather than choosing between the two buildings, this campaign allows us to invest in both simultaneously, putting down roots in the East Village while strengthening the foundation we already have in Murray Hill.

What happens if the full amount is not raised?

Our priorities for this campaign are clear: putting down roots in the East Village then securing The Hub NYC for the long term. As funds allow, we will purchase the East Village property, complete renovations and repairs at both locations, and then direct remaining funds toward loan repayment. Whether we raise above or below $4 million, we will steward whatever is given with the same prayerful discernment that has guided this entire process. If we raise more than the goal, we will seek God's direction for how to invest the surplus into His kingdom.

How many income tax years does the campaign span?

The 36-month pledge period (December 2026 through December 2029) spans four income tax years: 2026, 2027, 2028, and 2029. For those who benefit from charitable deductions, this structure offers the opportunity to distribute your gift across multiple tax years. We encourage you to speak with a financial advisor about how to structure your giving for maximum impact.
